My first weaving commission in Santa Fe

One of my reasons for moving to Santa Fe is to be a commercial fiber artisan. My first commissioned project is a shawl with a  design that creates the impression of peacock feathers on my 8-shaft floor loom. I’ve measured out the warp and am now threading the warp on m loom. The design is a combo of Strickler 4.107 and 4.108 undulating twills. The warp will be handpainted 8/2 tencel from iowaweaver in brilliant jewel tones of lavender, turquoise/aquamarine, deep spring green and royal purple. The piece will be slightly warp-faced to show off the handpainted warp. The weft will be 10/2 Lunatic Fringe Yarns royal purple mercerized cotton.
